RACE DAY!!!

Today was Awsome. It was SOOOOO much fun out there on the race track. Man, if you love cars or bikes and the thrill of speed half as much as I do you should have been there to witness Chennai’s very own Track Day- so professionally organized and attracting cars like the Mercedes CLS, the Porsche Cayenne and a whole bunch of other Indian and imported cars and bikes. (we saw two 911’s leave right as we were entering)

It’s one thing to watch an F1 race on tv, but to be on track actually driving your own car, fastened seatbelts, wearing a helmet and on track, competing with people you know, with other cars-some of them far FAR superior to your own(my Accent, Prathap's Baleno) is a pretty exiting experience You feel a sense of rush and exhilaration that I doubt any other sport this side of sky-diving can offer. It was single handedly the most exiting thing I have done and it was right here in Chennai.

It started with reaching there-the long drive to the Sriperambathur Race Track and checking out the scene that basically comprised auto-enthusiasts from the city and outside and their machines in the stalls. Then we went to the viewing tower and saw the track in all its glory under the blazing sun-after which we headed out for lunch and basically just hung around there-drooling at the dream machines around that we someday hope to afford.

We were booked for the 2.40 session that basically started after 3 something and it was pretty impressive how they made sure we wore helmets, strapped on our seatbelts and had our windows up 3/4th –allowing only 2 in a car and checking to see if no lose items lying inside, plus tapping up the headlights, tail-lights and fog lights…we had to watch the fizmi’s (basically modified 800-engined go kart type race cars) and then we were next on track with the rally racing esteems and their professional racer drivers. Though we didn’t go very high speeds cause the track had few straight stretches- was mostly bends and sharp curves- but it was fun and totally worth the money, We did get fined though for switching drivers, but again worth it for that experience.

It wasn’t an actual race cause there were no winners or losers and it wasn’t timed or anything but it was more so for the thrill of racing and feeling the car and it was like a whoever can do most laps on track in half an hour thing. But we all wanted to have a feel of the track and it was an experience worth remembering both as driver and passenger. Looking forward to more such events happening- as our city’s auto-sport enthusiasm picks up. Headed home after catching a part of the bike race. Left behind some ever-lasting memories. Anyways check out the pictures… and will soon try to add a video clip too- although it doesn’t quite capture the exact experience that it was, you will get the idea.

…feel’s like God.

The nicest feeling in the world is when the people you care about praise you-even if it’s for things you don’t deserve to be praised for, but would do normally for them anyhow just because you would and they are them. Well, I know better than to write a self approval kind of post on my own blog (seems a bit conceited right?) but ya this post goes out as a big Thank You for all those who have given me credit for things I do not even deserve (from calling me an angel to well, so much more) and the references they made to me on their own blogs and otherwise- well, you all know who you are. Just to let you all out there know that I would at Anytime do Whatever I could to Whoever I knew whether you asked me or not- if I knew I should do it, I would or probably already have and ya no credit expected or accepted for that.
